EDUCATE FOR KEISHA SCHOLARSHIP

 

Scholarship Award Criteria

 

Purpose: This scholarship was created in memory of Keisha Sawyer-Roberts, who dedicated her life to uplifting her students and community. The purpose of this scholarship is to assist a graduating high school Senior pursuing higher education. 

 

Criteria: 

Majoring in Education or English 

Good Academic Standing  

Minimum 2.75 GPA*

Must be a graduating Virginia H.S. Senior** attending Virginia State University full-time Fall 2021

Complete Application/Attach Essay***

 

*GPAs will be submitted on the honor system, but verified prior to scholarship award payout.

** H.S. Senior located in the State of Virginia - Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Suffolk, Franklin, Southampton County, Petersburg.

***Essay minimum 250-500 maximum words, Single-Spaced, 12 Font, Times New Roman.

 

Failure to adhere to all terms/criteria will result in disqualification.

 

Guidelines:

One recipient will be selected and awarded $550.00 (USD). The money will be paid directly to the school for deposit into the recipient’s account before the beginning of Fall semester.

 

Decision will be based on the complete application packet, essay content/focus, word count, and grammar.

 

No applications will be accepted or reviewed after the deadline! No revisions after application is submitted.

Failure to adhere to all terms/criteria will result in disqualification.

Recipient will be notified by email no later than (NLT) July 6, 2021.

 

Amount: 

$550 one-time award

 

Application Open Period: January 13, 2021
